DAVID McDOWELL is an American actor, writer, director, and producer originally from Raleigh, NC.

As an actor, some of his key mentors include Jessica Houde-Morris (Houde School of Acting, Meisner technique), James Ciccone (James Ciccone Studios/Actors Axiom/Show Up to Book the Role), Bronwen Carson (BTO), and Chris Hill (On The Big Screen Acting Studio).

As a writer/director, his second short film, "Reunion " is complete. Look for it in festivals in 2026! In March 2024, David won first place for his first short film "Oopsie Cookie" in a competition at Triality Studios in conjunction with BTO Creative Artist Group. His third short film "Forever Night " wrapped principal photography in August, 2025, and is currently in post-production.

In 2024 he founded VandT Media . It will serve as the media company for his film production, movie poster art, and local indie filmmaking gear rentals.

In 2026 he founded David McDowell Photography specializing in actor and corporate headshots.

He is dedicated to the craft of acting and filmmaking. He attributes his eye for directing to his leadership qualities and ability to troubleshoot complex situations on the fly. Preparation is everything, freedom is beautiful.
